1. Information We Collect

ItsUporDown is an independent web tool built with a privacy-by-design architecture. We do not require users to create an account, register, or provide any personally identifiable information (PII) to perform website availability checks.

When you use our service, we collect only:

  • Target Domain / URL: The domain name you request to test (e.g., “github.com”).
  • Probe Telemetry: Technical response data received from the target server, including HTTP response codes, response latency (in ms), resolved IP address, and server header tags.
  • Standard Server Access Logs: Ephemeral server request records (IP address and timestamp) maintained temporarily for DDoS mitigation, rate-limiting, and error diagnosis.

2. Local Storage & Cookies

ItsUporDown does not utilize third-party advertising cookies or cross-domain tracking pixels.

We use modern browser localStorage exclusively on your device to persist your personal “Recently Checked Websites” list. This data never leaves your browser and can be completely purged at any time using the trash icon in the toolbar or by clearing your browser site data.

3. Public Nature of Uptime Checks

Website domains queried via ItsUporDown are considered publicly queryable web addresses. Synthetic probe results (status, latency, and resolved headers) may be anonymously logged and displayed in the global activity feed so other visitors can see recent availability metrics without duplicating network requests.

We strongly advise against submitting URLs containing private sensitive URL parameters (such as authentication tokens or password-reset queries).

4. Third-Party Hosting & Infrastructure

Our server probes execute on Google Cloud Run edge infrastructure in European and North American regions. These providers adhere to rigorous global data security standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
